Welcome to the New EMCC Belgium Structure
A Collective Intelligence Model for a Stronger, Smarter, More Alive Organisation
Why We’re Evolving
At EMCC Belgium, we’ve always been passionate about mentoring, coaching, and supervision — and the deep human potential that lies within them. But as our community grows, we’ve come to a shared realization:
We need to evolve how we function as an organization in order to reflect the very values we promote.
Until now, a small group of volunteer board members — the Organe d’Administration (OA) — was responsible for running most aspects of EMCC Belgium. While we’ve made strong progress, the work has become increasingly complex. And with only a few hands on deck, we’ve hit our limits — in time, capacity, and collective creativity.
What We’re Building: A System Based on Collective Intelligence
We’ve decided to shift toward a model of collective intelligence.
What does this mean?
Rather than keeping all decision-making and action within the OA, we are now distributing leadership, ownership, and innovation across the whole membership. We are inviting you — our members — to step into more active roles through a new structure based on Circles.
What Are Circles?
Circles are small, purpose-driven teams that focus on one domain of EMCC Belgium’s operations or mission. Each Circle has a clear mandate, autonomy in its area, and a direct connection to the OA.
The Circles We’ve Created
Each Circle is supported by a double-link system:
• One First Link (from the OA)
• One Second Link (a member volunteer currently being recruited)
Here are the Circles we’ve launched and their current First Links from the OA:

📌 Second Links are currently being identified. If you're interested in volunteering for one of these roles, see below!
How the Double-Link System Works
Every Circle has:
👣 A First Link
A current OA member who represents the organization within the Circle. This person helps define the initial agenda and priorities, and acts as a point of contact back to the OA.
👥 A Second Link
A volunteer member (not from the OA) who takes operational leadership of the Circle — organizing meetings, recruiting members, and driving actions forward.
This double-link model ensures two-way communication:
- The OA stays in touch with what’s happening in each Circle
- The Circles stay connected to the vision and priorities of EMCC Belgium as a whole
🧭 Think of it like a relay: one foot in the OA, one foot in the Circle — keeping the energy flowing both ways.
A Real Example
Let’s take the Accreditation Circle:
- First Link: Julie Vander Meulen (Treasurer, OA Member)
- Second Link: Daniela Terrile (Volunteer Member)
Together, they co-define the mission of the Circle. Daniela then takes the lead in forming the team, setting up meetings, and beginning work — while Julie ensures the Circle is aligned with the broader structure and supports with coordination as needed.
What’s Next?
We’re moving forward with purpose, transparency, and co-creation. Here’s where we are now:
✅ Step 1: Circle structure and First Links — ✔️ DONE
The OA has finalized the current Circle structure and appointed the First Links internally.
🧭 Step 2: Identifying Second Links — IN PROGRESS
We are now inviting EMCC Belgium members to step into the role of Second Link — the operational lead for each Circle.
📣 If you’re curious, excited, or feel called to lead…
👉 Reach out to us at [] to express your interest.
✍️ Step 3: General Call for Participation — COMING SOON
If you're not ready to lead but still want to get involved, great!
You’ll soon receive a form where you can indicate which Circle(s) you’d like to join, based on your skills, interests, and availability. You’ll then be contacted by the Circle’s Second Link.
We ask all members to uphold the engagement you agreed to when joining EMCC Belgium — 15 hours per year of volunteer contribution — in whatever way best suits you.
What This Means for Our Culture
This is more than a new structure — it’s a shift in how we work together.
We’re committing to:
- 🧠 Distributed leadership
- 🫶 Shared responsibility
- 📣 More transparency
- 💬 Two-way communication
- 🌀 Lighter, more creative collaboration
We will keep you updated regularly via this page and the EMCC Belgium newsletter as the Circles evolve.
This model allows us to be more resilient, agile, and inclusive — while staying deeply connected to our shared mission and values.
Let’s Build the Future of EMCC Belgium — Together
We’re ready. The structure is in place.
Now it’s time to co-create the future of EMCC Belgium with you — our members, partners, and peers.
Let’s make this a movement we’re proud to grow within.
